The Elemental Evil story origin added the Elemental Evil Player's Companion (EEPC), a free PDF that that provided more character options. The Tyranny of Dragons story origin allowed you to choose options from the PHB and Hoard of the Dragon Queen, which offered two background features meant to tie characters into the storyline.
